🔴 Day 1 – Root Chakra (Muladhara)

Root Chakra - red energy at base of spine

1st Chakra | Muladhara (Root)

  • Mula ~ Root
  • Adhara ~ Support | Base
  • Colour ~ Red
  • Affirmation ~ I do | I am
  • Element ~ Earth
  • Location ~ Base of spine
  • Mantra ~ Lam
  • Developmental Stage ~ Womb to 12 months

Today we connect to our Root Chakra — Muladhara — the foundation of our entire energetic system. Located at the base of the spine, this chakra is all about feeling safe, grounded, and supported. It's our connection to the Earth and our basic needs — belonging, stability, and trust. When balanced, we feel calm and steady, no matter what life throws our way. This practice invites you to root down through your body, connect with the earth beneath you, and remind yourself: I am safe. I am held. I belong.

"When the roots are deep, there is no reason to fear the wind." – African Proverb

💫 Menopause & the Root Chakra

In menopause, many women experience shifts in their sense of security and stability — physically, emotionally, and energetically. Hormonal changes can impact sleep, digestion, and mood. Supporting the Root Chakra can help anchor us through these changes, offering a sense of steadiness and grounding.

🥬 Key Nutrients for Root Chakra Support

  • Protein – Supports tissue repair and stabilises blood sugar
  • Fibre – Aids digestion and gut health — both essential for hormonal balance
  • Magnesium – Calms the nervous system and improves sleep

🧘‍♀️ Yoga Poses for the Root Chakra

  • Warrior I (Virabhadrasana I) – Builds stability and strength
  • Tree Pose (Vrikshasana) – Cultivates balance and grounding
  • Triangle Pose (Trikonasana) – Connects you to the earth

🌳 Journaling Prompts – Root Chakra (Muladhara)

Coming home to the body. Grounded. Safe. Enough.

  • What sensations did I notice in my body today?
  • In what ways did I feel supported — physically or emotionally?
  • How do I usually speak to my body, and how would I like that to change?
  • What moments of stillness felt nourishing?
  • What is one way I gave myself space or permission to slow down today?
