Tenerife: What to Pack for Your Women's Yoga Retreat ๐ŸŒฟโ˜€๏ธ

Getting ready for your Women's Yoga Retreat in Tenerife and wondering what to pack? We've got you covered!

With daily yoga sessions, guided meditation, and nourishing meals prepared by Chef Laz on-site, your retreat is all about relaxation, movement, and self-care. That means comfort is key when it comes to packing!

1. โœจ First on the List: Yoga Clothes ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ

Packing for your retreat? Start with your yoga wear! Whether you're a seasoned yogi or brand new to the practice, here's what to bring:

  • โœ”๏ธ Yoga Leggings / shorts โ€“ A go-to choice for flexibility and comfort
  • โœ”๏ธ Loose-Fitting Exercise Trousers โ€“ Opt for styles that taper at the ankle to stay secure during movement.
  • โœ”๏ธ Breathable Tops โ€“ Tight or loose, choose what feels best for you.

Yoga leggings are everywhere these daysโ€” from Sweaty Betty to Penneys (Primark) have some fantastic options! Many are made from recycled plastic bottles, making them both eco-friendly and surprisingly comfortable. โ™ป๏ธโœจ

2. ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ Bring Your Own Yoga Mat

For hygiene reasons, we kindly ask that you bring your own yoga matโ€”this has become standard practice in many yoga studios, especially since 2020.

๐Ÿงณ Unlike our previous retreats in Croatia, we won't be able to provide ground mats in Tenerife, so please keep that in mind when choosing which mat to bring. You may want to opt for a slightly thicker or cushioned travel mat to ensure comfort during your practice โ€“ and if you usually rely on your favourite block (or two), pop those in as well.

๐Ÿšซ We don't recommend using a towelโ€”it can slip and shift, which gets distracting mid-flow!

3. Loose, Comfortable Clothing & Warm Layers for the Evenings

During the day, you'll be soaking up the warm Tenerife sunshine, but as the evening sets in, temperatures can dipโ€”especially in our open-air dining area. So, along with your usual daytime and evening holiday outfits, be sure to pack some cosy layers to stay comfortable.

Great options include:

  • ๐Ÿงฅ A fleece jacket โ€“ Lightweight yet warm.
  • ๐Ÿงฃ A pashmina or shawl โ€“ Light, versatile, and perfect for Nidra, coastal breezes, or wrapping up at dinner under the stars.
  • ๐Ÿ‘• A hoodie or sweater โ€“ Perfect for relaxed evenings.

Everyone's different when it comes to feeling the cold, so listen to your body! โ„๏ธ If you're someone who tends to get chilly, pack extra-extra layersโ€”you'll be glad you did!

4. Mosquito Spray ๐ŸฆŸโœจ

To keep pesky mosquitos at bay, I prefer to use a natural DIY repellentโ€”just tea tree oil and water in a spray bottle! ๐ŸŒฟ

Here's how to make it:
๐Ÿ”น Add a few drops of tea tree oil to a small spray bottle
๐Ÿ”น Fill it up with water
๐Ÿ”น Shake well & spritz as needed!

For a travel-friendly option, a 100ml spray bottle is lightweight, reusable, and perfect for those traveling with only hand luggage. Pair it with a 10ml bottle of pure tea tree oil, available at most pharmacies.

5. Travel Toiletries โœˆ๏ธ

When it comes to travel toiletries, weโ€™re all about minimal waste and eco-friendly choices whenever possible. Thatโ€™s why we love Josieโ€™s Botanicals, a natural skincare brand based in County Meath, Ireland, and founded by the inspiring holistic therapist Barbara McAteer.

Typically filled with lavender and a heavy grain like rice, an eye pillow is the perfect addition to your relaxation routine and great for yoga nidra class. Lavender is well-known for its calming effects, helping to ease stress and anxiety. Meanwhile, the gentle pressure from the rice stimulates the vagus nerve, activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps your body relax by sending soothing signals down your neck, shoulders, chest, heart, and stomach.
