Tenerife: Activities & Adventures During 'Me Time' ☀️🌴🧘‍♀️

Woman hiking in Tenerife with ocean view

Every afternoon during your yoga retreat, you'll have the gift of me time — from around 1:00pm to 7:00pm. This is your chance to step out, explore, or simply do something that makes you feel alive, nurtured, and joyful.

Whether you're craving connection with animals, a thrill-seeking splash, a scenic hike, or a spot of guilt-free shopping (Tenerife's VAT is only 7% — just saying!), here's your guide to the island's best mood-boosting activities.

💞 Release Oxytocin – For the Animal Lovers

Oxytocin, often called the "love hormone," is released through connection — and what better way to spark that warm-hearted glow than by spending time with animals?

🐒 Jungle Park

A lush, subtropical oasis just 10 minutes by taxi from Chayofa, Jungle Park offers beautifully maintained natural habitats where you can watch birds of prey, lemurs, big cats, and exotic birds.

Getting there: 10 min taxi from the villa or walkable for adventurous souls (approx. 30 mins downhill).

🐫 Camel Park

A truly unique Tenerife experience — ride a camel through the island's volcanic terrain! This small, friendly farm is right in Chayofa and offers a chance to connect with these gentle, expressive animals.

Getting there: A 5-minute taxi ride or a pleasant walk from the villa.

🐵 Monkey Park

A short drive away in Los Cristianos, this small conservation park lets you meet endangered primates and even feed some of the friendlier animals like lemurs and guinea pigs.

Getting there: 15 min by taxi or bus from Chayofa.

💦 Get Your Adrenaline Going – Childlike Joy is Powerful Medicine

Sometimes the best remedy for adult overwhelm is to just… play.

🌊 Aqualand Adeje

A fun, family-friendly waterpark with plenty of rides and a dolphin show for good measure.

🌴 Siam Park

Europe's most spectacular waterpark — stylish, tropical, and full of heart-racing slides, lazy rivers, and beachy relaxation zones. A must-visit for fun-lovers – our favourite is chillin' in a rubber tube floating down the lazy river!!

Getting there: Both are about 15–20 minutes from Chayofa. Take a taxi, or catch a direct bus from Los Cristianos or Las Americas.

🥾 Release Endorphins – Hit the Trails — Nature Is Waiting

Tenerife's dramatic landscapes are packed with soul-soothing and endorphin-releasing trails. Here are a few close to the retreat villa:

🌿 Barranco del Infierno (Hell's Gorge)

A stunning guided walk through a dramatic ravine to a hidden waterfall. Must book in advance (limited daily visitors).

Getting there: Approx. 20 min by taxi to Adeje.

🌄 Roque del Conde

For a little challenge and lots of reward. This hike offers sweeping views over the coast — perfect at sunset.

Getting there: Trailhead is about a 15-minute drive from Chayofa by taxi.

🌸 Chayofa Walking Trails

Right on your doorstep — there are short woodland paths around Chayofa itself, perfect for a quick endorphin boost without needing transport.

🛍 Release Dopamine – Calling All Retail Therapy Enthusiasts

Let's talk dopamine — that little rush of pleasure when you see the one hanging on the clothesrail. With Tenerife's low 7% VAT, you might just find your new favourite piece for less.

🛍 Siam Mall

Trendy shops, Spanish fashion, swimwear, accessories, and a few international brands. Spacious and air-conditioned — ideal for a breezy browse.

👗 Plaza del Duque

If you're feeling luxe, treat yourself with a stroll through this high-end shopping area near Costa Adeje. Designer boutiques and stylish beachwear await.

Getting there: Both are about 20 minutes by taxi or reachable by bus from Los Cristianos.

🛵 Want to Feel the Wind in Your Hair?

For a bit more freedom, you can rent a moped and cruise the island with the breeze on your face. Not sure you would be confident on two wheels? There are oodles of car rental options, just make sure to bring your driving license.

💛 So… what will you choose during your me time? Whether you're recharging with dolphins or indulging in a shopping trip, this is your time to do exactly what fills you up. Enjoy it — you've earned it.
